PI = Proforma Invoice 形式发票。
PI的作用:
1.让客户知道自己买的什么,数量多少,单价多少以及总值;
PI = Proforma Invoice.
Functions of PI:
1. Let customers know what they buy, quantity, unit price and total value;
2. Documents used by the customer to apply for a letter of credit or other payment terms.
Proforma Invoice (PI) its function is equivalent to quotation! Can we arrange production by making the quotation? So it's not too easy to do trade?
Proforma invoice only after signing by both parties, it means that the contract becomes effective! But production does not have to be arranged only if the contract is in force - usually production can be arranged only after LC or advance payment is received!
The production cannot be arranged after the Proforma Invoice is finished. It is also used for contract purposes. Both sides need to stamp (stamp) to be effective!
Proforma invoices can also be used in other situations where settlement is required.
(1) For payment in advance, i.e., cash payment is required before shipment.
(2) In consignment mode, goods are exported without a definite sales contract, but are placed in the hands of agents, for whom proforma invoices serve as a guide to quoting to potential buyers.
(3) In the case of a tender, proforma invoice enables the buyer to enter into a sales contract with a number of competing suppliers at reasonable prices and on reasonable terms and conditions of sale.
To sum up, the PI given to the customer is similar to the general contract, except that the following payment terms and other terms will be different. In addition, the CI given to the express delivery is usually understated, so that the customer can pay less customs duties.
